Noise from the signal; digital film, 14 mins

Moving image work made in collaboration with Clara Hancock as part of Extense. Serving as a companion piece to the radio broadcast The eternal emissions of a dying star, drawing audio from the broadcast and re-presenting it alongside imagery in palimpsest. This moving image work gazes outward and inward, interesting itself both in the coloniality of nuclear histories and the material past, present, and futures of the Hunterston A and B nuclear sites. Noise from the signal delves into all that has been, and is being, scrubbed out in service of the nuclear dream, the exhaustion of which this site is both emblematic and symptomatic.

A work-in-progress version of Noise from the signal was shown as part of the River is an engine screening at CinemARC in the University of Glasgow.
